Brazilian chicken pie (Torta de frango)





Today I am posting my mother's recipe of a Brazilian chicken pie!

Dear Mari-Liis, I offer this recipe to you after my transcription disaster on whatsapp! :-P

Ingredients

Pie filling:
- 2 halves of chicken breast
- 2 tomatoes
- 1 medium onion
- garlic
- corn
- green beans
- parsley and green onions
- salt, black pepper

Dough:
- 2 cups of flour
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 2 tablets margarine (115g each)
 Note for the margarine: usually use this other option: 1 tablet of margarine and 1 tabled of butter
- 1 egg yolk

Dimensions of the baking dish: 17.5 x 28cm (7 x 11 in)
Note: if you are using a bigger dish, such as 22.5 x 33cm (9 x 13 in), you will need to prepare two recipes but you might have some leftover. In this case, use this leftover to prepare an additional small pie.

Directions:

Preheat oven to 390 degrees F (200 degrees C).

How to prepare the dough:

1. In a bowl mix flour, salt, 2 tablets of  margarine and knead this dough until it is homogeneous. Opening this dough with your finger, use it to create the bottom, side and top crust of the pie. This crust will  be quite buttery so you won't be able to open with a roller.
